2010 has been a landmark year for Web Applications UK.

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

We celebrated our tenth anniversary in September, won a number of large contracts and grew massively internally.

In September we celebrated ten years of Web Applications UK.  The company all started when our two founders, Gordon and Lee, put their heads together and decided to start their own business.  Since then the company has undergone a number of permutations and changes but its foundations remain the same.  Ten years on Gordon and Lee are directors of the company along with Craig Dean as Chief Executive and Nick Fowler as Sales Director.  Our tenth anniversary was celebrated in style in the hills of West Yorkshire with a Murder Mystery Dinner Party.

This year has been a major year for signing new contracts for Web Applications UK.  While others companies struggled during the recession, Web Applications UK has been booming.  We signed the National Trust, a well-known provider of holiday parks and cottages as well as the newly consolidated Hoseasons Group.  This year we expect a massive increase in turnovers (around 250%) in addition to our extensive recruitment cycle.

Over the course of this year we have nearly doubled the size of our company.  We began 2010 with about thirty members of staff and will be ending the year with fifty-five employees!  We have been adding members to our team in order to decrease project development time; continue to focus on a number of innovations and new products we have planned (basically R&D) as well as keep up with new and existing contracts.

This has been an exciting time to be a part of Web Applications UK as we prove that we can handle bigger and more complicated contracts. We are in the process of putting together a case study with National Trust concerning our implementation of Travel, our Travel Reservation System.  Not only is National Trust a big-name company, but one with specific needs that are not found in run-of-the-mill booking systems.  We detail how our robust and customisable system is able to accommodate the needs of a company like National Trust.  Again, it's a great time to be at Web Applications UK.
