Peter Hazel
Project Manager
TTIcodes
|
After graduating from Herriot-Watt University with an
honours degree in computer science in 1972, Peter has spent almost his entire
career in the Travel Technology sector covering cargo shipments, tour
operating, airlines & hotels, including Meetings & Events.
Throughout his career, Peter has had major involvement in
numerous projects which have helped shape the industry. During his tenure with
Pegasus, Peter has held key product management positions covering reservation
services, representation services & distribution services. He was also very
instrumental in the development of Pegasus’ web based commission payments service.
In his role of VP of Product Management at Pegasus, Peter was
very much to the fore in developing Pegasus next generation content management
toolset offering a fully integrated multi lingual global solution covering
textual content, still images and rich media to its thousands of customers
across the globe. Along the same lines he
was a leading member of a group which undertook a study to define the Next
Generation CRS and worked with leading Hotel companies and global technology
players to articulate the architecture, functionality and modus operandus of the future CRS. Many
of tenets developed as part of this study still hold good and demonstrate Peter’s ability to think out of the box & look towards the future whilst the retaining the business principles that
have served well in the past.
With technology continually changing, a key aspect of Peter’s
role was working with partners to develop integrated solutions that enable
customers to maximise the benefits of next generation technology. An example of
this work is the development of a Smart Booking Engine which integrates voice,
web & mobile channels into a seamless set of services for the traveller no
matter where the traveller is located at a point in time, with the emphasis on
selling the right product to the right customer at the right time, not
necessarily the cheapest.
Currently Peter is engaged on a number of projects. They
include a project looking at the automation of Tour & Wholesale bookings,
where Peter can marry his experience of the Tour Operator industry, where he
played a key role in developing Thomson Holidays, TRACS, CRS system and TOP
Viewdata system, a forerunner to today’s internet with his Hotel Distribution
experience and expertise. He is also involved in a new project to provide
hotels and meeting planners alike with a distribution tool to enable Meeting
Planners to search for venues on-line plus the ability to not only obtain a
quotation for a small meeting on-line but make the booking.
He is also actively involved in developing a Smart Business
Intelligence Solution for leading hotel companies and distribution companies..
Peter is also an active member of TTI and has recently served
on a number of HEDNA committees, including the team evaluating Unique Global
Identifiers. As part of his TTI work, Peter is very much to the fore in
developing TTI codes which is similar to the UGI approach but very much focused
on the Tour Operating – Hospitality market.
Using his vast and broad experience of electronic
distribution within the travel industry, Peter set-up his own consultancy in
2008 in order to apply his considerable skills to helping companies maximise
their distribution capability within the hospitality industry
